eighteen.1 The strain check specimens and exam procedures shall be in
accordance with Examination Solutions and Definitions A 370, especially
Annex A2.
18.2 In the choice in the producer, the stress test
specimens shall be longitudinal or transverse strip test specimens,
by using a gage length of two in. (fifty mm) or eight in. (two hundred mm),
taken with the pipe or maybe the skelp. In just their gage duration,
longitudinal strip examination specimens shall be nominally eleven?2 in. (38
mm) wide, non-flattened, and with parallel sides.
18.three For welded pipe piles, the strain examination specimens shall
be taken as follows:
eighteen.3.1 For longitudinal-seam pipe piles, any longitudinal
strip examination specimens shall be taken through the pipe parallel into the
pipe axis and 90° in the weld, or through the skelp at a
corresponding spot and orientation, and any transverse
strip test specimens shall be taken through the pipe 90° to your pipe
axis and 180° through the weld, or from your skelp at a corresponding
site and orientation.
18.3.2 For helical-seam pipe piles, any longitudinal strip
examination specimens shall be taken from the pipe parallel on the pipe
axis and at these types of a site the middle of the specimen is
situated at least a quarter with the length between adjacent weld
convolutions, or with the skelp at a corresponding locale and
orientation; and transverse specimens shall be taken from the
pipe 90° on the pipe axis and at these a area which the middle
of the specimen is situated around half the space
among adjacent weld convolutions, or with the skelp at a
corresponding locale and orientation.
18.four Specimens shall be analyzed at home temperature.
